Development Projects Manager

 Under limited supervision, directly manages the related project development, design and permitting activities for all private development related projects. Coordinates activities between consulting engineers, contractors, developers and BJWSA personnel to ensure all projects are developed and designed according to BJWSA specifications.  Creates development agreements with developers for large developments.  Reports to the Director of Engineering.

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree (from an accredited engineering program) in civil or mechanical engineering or related field with a minimum of five years’ experience in engineering related functions and project management.
  • Prefer a South Carolina Professional Engineer License.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering as applied to civil design and hydraulics associated with water and wastewater systems and plants.
  • Must possess experience in computer applications and possess the ability to operate BJWSA-specific software.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Starting Salary: $2,952.80 to $4,576.80 bi-weekly plus excellent benefits package to include S.C. Technical Maintenance Specialist I

Under general supervision, assists with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, instrumentation, maintenance and repair of all equipment related to BJWSA’s water and sewer systems. Assists in troubleshooting and assessment of maintenance and repairs, the planning and requisition of parts, and the implementation of repair.  Reports to the Technical Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with one year of vocational or technical school training in general electrical and mechanical studies with a minimum of two years of experience dealing with the same or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must possess ability to communicate, both orally and in writing and requires computer experience in Microsoft Office Products with the ability to use software used by the Authority.
  • Must possess or complete training in confined space entry, bloodborne pathogen, hazardous material, first aide/CPR, forklift operations, crane operations, and lockout-tagout within two years of hire.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Class D Water Distribution license and a Class D Wastewater Collection System license within one year of hire. Must show progression towards required licensure.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) within one year from hire.

Starting Salary: $18.14 per hour plus excellent benefits package to include S.C. Field Operator I, II or III

Locates, inspects, maintains, installs and repairs water and sewer lines to ensure quality service to BJWSA customers. Performs work in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.  The position is in the multi-skilled Field Operations workforce.  Experience, skill and certification determines level of hire.  Reports to the Field Operations Supervisor.

 Requirements:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prefer a minimum of 1 yr related experience for Field Op I, requires min. of 2 yrs related experience for Field Op II, requires min. of 5 yrs related experience for Field Op III with basic/general electrical knowledge, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math calculations.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a: Class C Water Distribution and a Class C Collection System license within 2 yrs of hire or promotion for Field Op. II,
  • Class B Water Distribution and a Class B Collection System license within 2 yrs of hire or promotion for Field Op. III.
  • Class D Water Distribution and a Class D Collection System license within 2 yrs of hire or promotion for Field Op. I,
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, and be able to obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire.

Starting Salary: $14.99 to $19.99 per hour (Depending on qualifications) + excellent benefits package to include S.C.
