The Thad Coleman Fund offers a helping hand to Beaufort and Jasper County families faced with financial hardship, helping them pay the costs to connect to the BJWSA public water and sewer system. It is funded through BJWSA and participating customers throughout our service area.

About Thad Coleman
BJWSA has named this fund to honor our great friend, Thad Coleman, and his efforts. Thanks to Thaddeous Z. Coleman, hundreds of families in Beaufort and Jasper counties can turn on their household taps today and count on a reliable supply of clean and healthy drinking water.
Mr. Coleman served for 19 years on the Board of Directors of the Beaufort-Jasper Water and Sewer Authority, retiring in March 2001. During his almost two decades on the Board, Mr. Coleman was an articulate advocate and the driving force for BJWSA to extend water service into predominately rural communities that relied on poor quality, shallow wells. In some areas, families needed financial help, so it became necessary to obtain grants and loans. But the overall objective was the same — to get people a healthy water supply at a reasonable price.
His efforts have enhanced the quality life of often-overlooked, low-income families living in remote rural areas by making it possible for them to enjoy a high-quality and healthy supply of drinking water.
